The walking projects delivered by the CityConnect programme, go:walking and CityConnect Walking were centered around encouraging more people to walk more often. They were co-ordinated by West Yorkshire Combined Authority, in partnership with the councils in Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees and Leeds. The projects were managed by Living Streets the UK charity for everyday walking.
As part of the projects Living Streets, Public Health teams and community based organisations delivered a range of walking activities in targeted areas, including led walks, community street audits, pedometer challenges and much more. Encouraging people to walk for just 20 minutes a day can transform fitness levels, improve health and reduce stress and anxiety.
